Editing sections¶
The Ribbon > Section Edit pane provides batch-editing tools for modifying section line data across one or more sections. Each tool opens a dialog where you select the target line definition and station range before applying the operation.
Sort¶
Reorders section points radially. Points are sorted clockwise starting from the -Y axis (bottom of the section).
Dialog options:
Line definition to sort
Station range (start and end chainage)
Tip
Use Sort after importing survey data where point order is not guaranteed. Radial sorting ensures the polyline traces the tunnel profile smoothly without crossing itself.
Filter Elev¶
Deletes points that fall within a specified elevation range.
Dialog options:
Line definition to filter
Station range
Minimum elevation
Maximum elevation
All points whose elevation falls within the min/max range are removed from the selected line data.
Note
This tool is useful for removing survey artifacts that appear above or below the actual tunnel profile – for example, reflections from the tunnel floor or ceiling that produce erroneous points.
Filter DR¶
Deletes points whose deviation from the template exceeds a specified threshold.
Dialog options:
Measured line definition (the surveyed data)
Template reference line (the design profile to compare against)
Station range
DR range (minimum and maximum deviation radial)
Points whose radial deviation from the template falls outside the specified range are removed.
Tip
Filter DR is particularly effective for cleaning up point cloud-derived sections where outlier points may be far from the expected tunnel surface.
Closed¶
Sets the open/closed drawing mode for a line across a range of sections.
Dialog options:
Line definition
Station range
Override value: Default, Force Closed, or Force Open
Override |
Behavior |
|---|---|
Default |
Uses the setting from the line definition |
Force Closed |
Draws the polyline as a closed polygon regardless of the line definition setting |
Force Open |
Draws the polyline as an open polyline regardless of the line definition setting |
Note
This override is per-section. It does not change the line definition itself, only how individual sections render that line.
Close to Lvl¶
Extends or truncates line endpoints to reach a target elevation.
Dialog options:
Line definition
Station range
Target Y level (elevation)
The first and last points of the polyline are projected to the specified elevation, ensuring the line starts and ends at a consistent reference level.
Tip
Use Close to Lvl when sections need to connect to a common reference elevation, such as the road surface or a construction joint level.
Close Invert¶
Automatically adds closing points at the bottom of the section near the alignment axis.
Dialog options:
Line definition
Station range
This tool inserts invert points to close open profiles at the bottom, bridging the gap between the last point on one side and the first point on the other side of the tunnel.
Tip
Close Invert is helpful when survey data covers the tunnel walls and crown but not the invert (floor). Adding closing points produces a complete closed profile for area and volume calculations.
